Guns N' Roses - did anyone catch this?

GNR (Axl) played in NYC and I heard the show was very good. I'm skeptical. GNR has always been great on record, but it's been the worst act I've ever seen. I've seen them twice, and the show didn't get good until Axl dove off the stage, attacking a fan, and was arrested. The rest of the show was instrumental GNR songs and cover tunes, and it was a much better show.

Any way, it would be cool if we could hear from someone who saw the show.

A legend passes: Billy Preston

Billy Preston died of chronic kidney failure, after a lengthy coma, at the age of 59. Preston gigged with some of the greats, like the Beatles and Stones. Probably one of his most famous songs, "Nothing From Nothing," was recently revived after being used in a few TV commercials. He will be missed.

Quit whining about American Idol

I've heard a lot of people complaining about Chris getting voted off of Idol. Come on - it's the best thing that could have happened. No true rocker could ever benefit from being the American Idol. He took it as far as he needed to get a lot of visibility and publicity. Now, the time that he's contractually obligated to Idol will be limited and he can build a real career - maybe even with Fuel. It was good that all of his fans "forgot" to vote.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - truly hot!

I've heard the new record and it's great. Tickets go on sale for the Atlanta show today and I've got to get them. Saw them in 2002 and they were one of the greatest acts I've seen.

Arctic Monkeys - another pass

In the UK, these guys are a big hit. But I don't like that atall (Note: that's a British accent). I didn't like their FM stuff and I didn't like the stuff on the web. So, I thought maybe they're great live. Then I saw them on Saturday Night Live and I thought they sucked there, too. So, I don't get what all the excitement is about.

Jimmy Buffett - I'll pass...

Jimmy Buffett's show has to be one of the worst shows I've ever seen. He has truly sold out to corporate America and simply goes through the motions at his shows. And what about the Parrot Heads? The Parrot Heads of today are mostly yuppie (now not so "y") idiots that Jimmy Buffett would have never liked in his prime. He's a sell out and his show in Atlanta is sold out, so maybe I'm wrong. But I'll skip this show.

Goo Goo Dolls

Check it out! The Goo Goo Dolls are playing small venues around the US. This could be a really cool, intimate show. The Atlanta Loft show is sold out - anyone know where to get tickets?

Lynyrd Skynyrd... and the young'uns

Skynyrd is touring again. They always rock and have one of the greatest shows in Southern Rock. I don't see why 3 Doors Down is touring with them, but I guess they wanted to tour with a legendary band. I can't wait for this show to hit Atlanta!

James Blunt - hot or not?

James Blunt is touring small venues around the US. He sounds great in the studio. Has anyone seen his show and is it worth paying a premium to get into a sold out show?

The new INXS

Has anyone seen INXS, now that they have a new lead singer? The local stations in my market refuse to play anything from the new album because they all say he's terrible. I haven't heard any other song from the album other than the one he wrote, so I can't decide if they are worth seeing. Any feedback on the album or tour?
